reviewed 8/25/16 for a stay in August 2016
Our family are frequent summer cottage renters and the week stay at this beautiful cottage definitely stands out.
The Shannon Bay area is very clean and peaceful, it's a perfect place to decompress from city life and daily chores. Kids fish from the dock, swimming in the shallow, warm water, the sunset view from the cottage is unbelievable. A short distance away you could find restaurants, grocery shopping, sports fields and beaches.
The cottage is well kept, the owner is very friendly and helpful. All questions are answered and they provide tips to local attractions and amenities. We will definitely go back.
We throughly enjoyed our stay in Orillia. The accommodations were first class. The area was beautiful and the people very friendly.
We have told all of our friends of our experience and hope that some of them will take advantage of your location. Thank-you again for a wonderful week.
We would like to thank the Hendricks' for the use of their cottage . My family and a friend from Texas had a great time. Everything we needed was close by . We caught some nice bass and the kids caught lots of fish off the dock. We will be back again. The cottage was very clean and well maintained ,and safe for small children.
We enjoyed our stay at this cottage on Lake Simcoe in Orillia. The cottage was very clean and spacious. The backyard and beach front was very private and clean. The location of the cottage is just moments away by major roads but the area is so quiet and secluded that it was like being on a private lake. The living area (living room, kitchen, and dining area) was large with plenty of room to maneuver. The master bedroom is especially spacious and the second bedroom is a nice size as well. The bathroom shower was fantastic! We ended up cooking most of our meals at the cottage and enjoying the view of the lake from either outside at the picnic table, sitting at chairs by the water, or looking out the huge picture windows of the cottage.
This is defintely a location I want to return to anytime I can.
Fishing, swimming, tubing, water skiing, repeat. We had a great time at this lakefront location. The yard going down to the dock is lined with tall arbor vidae, so there's plenty of privacy, but still great access to the water. From the dock, you can fish or swim ... or just enjoy the wonderful sunsets. From the house, it's a short drive to the marina to rent a fishing boat or more powerful vessel. Convenient access to town, where there are shops and plenty of places to go out for dinner. If you catch your dinner, there's a great gas grill for that, too. We brought along outdoor games (like bags). Practically lived in the back yard, on the dock and on the boat. Comfortable, clean space indoors. Perfect if you have two or three children and if you need to do a little cooking. Truly enjoyable, comfortable, quiet location away from any evening noise.
Spent a great week in this beautiful home on a quiet bay on Lake Simcoe. The kids caught lots of fish and we were only 5 minutes from downtown Orillia where parks, beaches, and restaurants were all readily available. Would definitely come back to this location.
This was the first summer in our lives without access to a family-owned cottage. We were wary about staying in a privately held property without having met the owners and seeing only pictures online. However, we took a leap of faith and were pleasantly surprised. We spoke to the owner by telephone and exchanged emails. We were met by the owners upon arrival, given a tour of the rental unit and were given detailed typed information/instructions about the property and Orillia's attractions.
Private internet access was a necessity during our stay and we were not disappointed. The bathroom is new, clean and fully equipped. The kitchen is well equipped and again is very clean. The BBQ is a good size and sitting near the shore is very enjoyable. The neighbours are quiet, yet knowing they are there gives a sense of security.
Although there is no beach, there is a sandlot for young children and the backyard sloping to the lake is fenced off in two places ensuring children can play safely, yet enjoy the lovely yard. Just a short drive away is Orillia Harbour with walking trail/boardwalk along Lake Simcoe/Lake Couchiching, a busy harbour, many places to sit and boat/people watch and a sandy beach with lifeguards, and shallow water cordoned off for young children.
It was a pleasure to stay at this property and we would not hesitate to do so again.
This is very good cottage and very reasonably priced. The owners keep it very clean, brand new grill. The property is perfectly maintained.
